Volunteering at Hospice of Acadiana

Where can you make a difference?  Many people imagine themselves becoming volunteers at a hospice and helping to make a difference for people during their end of life journey.  Most of those called to the service of those on that journey may never make the phone call that could change their lives because they're not sure what will be expected of them, or they are not sure that they have what it takes.

Volunteers at Hospice of Acadiana help to fill the gap between loved ones and professional caregivers.  Hospice volunteers are a group of dedicated individuals from throughout the nine-parish service area (Acadia, Iberia, Evanegline, Jeff Davis, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion) who share with Hospice of Acadiana a belief in the right of each person to spend one’s final days in peace and comfort and to die with dignity at home. The mission of the Volunteer Services program is to support and enhance the efforts of staff members in meeting the needs of patients and their families.
