FREE Bereavement Services at Hospice of Acadiana:

The Center for Loss and Transition

Hospice of Acadiana has steadily placed increased emphasis on its bereavement program and in the year 2000 established the Center for Loss and Transition. Staffed by grief counselors, the Center offers what is perhaps the most comprehensive array of bereavement services of any hospice in Louisiana.  The Center for Loss and Transition extends its services to all members of Acadiana.  The Center for Loss and transition offers individual counseling and support groups for people suffering from the loss of a loved one.

Bereavement programs through Hospice of Acadiana are offered as a service to the community

FREE OF CHARGE

The Bereavement Program at Hospice of Acadiana strives to keep in touch with family members who have lost a loved one for at least 13 months to offer support through the grieving process.

"You have been so thoughtful and kind to me since the passing of my husband, Felix.  It will be a year on Thanksgiving Day.  I am doing well, but as they say, "It doesn't go away, but it does get better."  Thank you again, Hospice of Acadiana.  My Family and I appreciate all that you did for us."

Eligibility:

Customarily, hospice bereavement services are available only to family members of deceased patients cared for by that hospice. The Center for Loss and Transition, however, extends its services to family members of non-hospice patients, even to relatives of patients whose death did not result from a terminal illness. These services are offered Free of Charge to members of the Acadiana community.

Community Transitions

The Center for Loss and Transition has received many requests seeking help for people in transition due to illnesses and for their families.  In response to this need, and as a service to the Acadiana Community, The Center for Loss and Transitions, the bereavement department of Hospice of Acadiana, has initiated this counseling program.  During transition, some need more emotional support than family and friends can provide.   Having to use Hospice services is not a criterion for participating in Community Transitions.
