Acadiana's Only Nonprofit Hospice
Hospice Crisis Care
We understand that unexpected things can occur in the home setting, which is why Hospice of Acadiana offers Continuous Care, or Crisis Care. As a part of the four levels of hospice care, continuous care consists of at least eight hours of nursing care in a 24-hour period.
Hospice of Acadiana's trained staff of nurses and physicians can provide intensive, in-home, 24-hour emergency support for patients who undergo an at-home crisis. This is done to manage acute medical symptoms with the goal of keeping the patient at home. Examples of such acute medical symptoms are unrelieved pain despite medication and unrelieved agitated delirium.
The need for continuous care is re-assessed every 24 hours, per Medicare guidelines.
We know a time of crisis can be very difficult for the patient and family. Hospice of Acadiana prides itself on being able to provide the appropriate level of care whenever necessary.
